Madagascar – Safeguard on Pasta and Related Produc ...

​Madagascar is carrying out a safeguard investigation on a range of products including pasta, macaroni and noodles. According to the Malagasy Authorities, surge in import of these products has caused serious injury to its domestic industry.   Mauritius, being one of the countries concerned has filed a submission and participated in a public hearing on the matter. It has argued that the introduction of the measure was unwarranted as the investigation did not show sufficient evidence proving serious injury or threat of serious injury to the Malagasy pasta industry. ESA-UK Economic Partnership Agreement

​Mauritius along with two Eastern Southern Africa (ESA) states namely Seychelles and Zimbabwe signed an Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) with the United Kingdom on 31 January 2019.The Agreement will provide predictability and legal certainty to Mauritian operators exporting to the UK, independent of any UK-EU BREXIT outcomes. Under the ESA-UK Economic Partnership Agreement, Mauritius will continue to benefit from duty free-quota free access on all products, including that of high export interest such as sugar, tuna, garments, agro processed products, pasta, biscuits, coconut oil, sugar confectionary and beer amongst others on the UK market. Mauritius hosts the first African Economic Platform from 20 to 22 March 2017

​The inaugural session of the African Economic Platform (AEP) will be held in  Westin Turtle Bay Resort,  Balaclava, from 20 to 22 March 2017.
