The Minister of Foreign Affairs holds talks with newly elected President of Ghana

The Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Vishnu Lutchmeenaraidoo, met with the newly elected President of Ghana, HE Nana Akufo-Addo, on Tuesday 10 January 2017 in Accra, the country’s capital. The Vice-President, Mr. Mahamudu Bawumia, was in attendance. Mr. Lutchmeenaraidoo and the Ghanaian leaders discussed opportunities of cooperation which are meant to meant to give a fresh impetus to the political and economic ties between the two countries.
Mauritius has plans to develop a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in the region of Dawa, near Accra. The President said his government will ensure all necessary support to move ahead with the project.
President Nana Akufo-Addo said he would like Mauritius to share its experience in financial services, ICT and manufacturing with Ghana. Mauritius is also keen to share its know-how in sugar production with Ghana.
The Minister of Foreign attended the swearing-in ceremony of President Nana Akufo-Addo on Saturday 7 January 2017 in Accra.
