Mauritius and India have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on cooperation in the field of rural development. The MOU was signed in New Delhi by the High Commissioner of Mauritius to India, His Excellency Mr. Jagdish Goburdhun, GOSK, on behalf of the Government of Mauritius. The Indian side was represented by Mr. A. Sinha, Secretary for Rural Development. The MOU establishes a framework of cooperation in rural development policies and projects which will benefit the National Development Unit (NDU) primarily. It will facilitate transfer of skills and technology that are meant to improve facilities and services in the rural regions. The MOU provides for exchange visits and familiarisation tours that will help encourage sharing of experiences and best practices in the various areas of rural development. Mauritius is set to tap into the vast working knowledge of India in sustaining the development of rural zones in view to raise the standard of living of the population.
