African Continental Free Trade Area Technical Working Group on Rules of Origin 13-17 July 2020

The 14th (Virtual) meeting of the AfCFTA Technical Working Group on Rules of Origin is scheduled for 13-17 July 2020. The aim the meeting will be to consider the draft manual on the application of the rules of origin. Officials from the MRA Customs as well as the International Trade Division will be participating in the meeting.

 

The Manual on the application of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Rules of Origin is a publication which sets out guidelines on the operationalisation of Annex 2 on Rules of Origin in order to accord tariff preferences to goods that meet the origin rules and are traded between the AfCFTA State Parties. The Manual spells out in detail the application of the rules used in determining the origin status of Goods, procedures of administering the rules and the institutional framework for the implementation of the AFCFTA Rules of Origin.

 

Mauritius submitted its comments on the proposed draft manual to the African Union Commission on 07 July 2020.
